points and podium in Austria ///

 18.07.2016

Third round of the Renault Sport Trophy full of action on the legendary Austrian circuit of Red Bull Ring, which saw David Fumanelli get a podium and solid points for the championship.

After a difficult Friday, due to a gearbox problem which forced him to miss most of the sessions, David qualified 6th on the third row for both races.

In the Endurance race he ended up 6th in the first part reserved for PRO drivers, but then he had to do a drive through penalty for track limits and ending the race in 10th place.
The PRO sprint race on Sunday was a hard fight from the early stages, with many duels and overtakes at the limit. Thanks to an aggressive strategy, David was able to recover up to 4th position.

In the post-race, however, the disqualification of the drider Bonifacio, for technical issues, has promoted the Italian in third position. Second podium in a row for Fumanelli, that after Imola gets another great result.

A positive weekend in general and, thanks to the points earned, David is fully in the title’s fight jus 13 points off the leader.
Next round of the Renault Sport Trophy will be on the 27th-28th of August, at the French circuit of Paul Ricard.
It was a weekend full of ups and downs ... after the gearbox problem on Friday, it was not easy to get into qualifying with so few laps and the sixth place was a small miracle!
In the race I managed to recover and to bring home points that will be fundamental in the title’s fight! I want to thank the whole team for the incredible job they have done to let me start the qualifying. Now we need a great race in France in August to keep the fight on.
