Technical issues compromised the 24h ///

 10.08.2017

The biggest Endurance GT race in the world, the 24 hours of Spa, was held on the mythical Belgian circuit on the 29th – 30th of July.

The most waited race of the season, has seen 64 cars and more than 220 drivers at the start, a big challenge for everyone both physically and mechanically.

After the traditional Wednesday Parade in Spa town, there were two qualifying sessions on Thursday, one during the day and one in the night, to get used to the dark. A lot of traffic and two red flags compromised David’s quali as they couldn’t complete a proper lap and it put them 53rd on the grid.

Strakka Racing Team and McLaren decided to let David have the start and he repaid them with an outstanding performance! He came back from 53rd to 15th in just two hours, overtaking 38 cars!

In the next stints, thanks to a brilliant strategy, they held the 5th position for long time remaining in the leader’s lap and in the full fight for the podium and victory. Unfortunately between the sixth and seventh hours, a technical problem and a clutch failure put them out of the game.

With passion and determination, the team was able to bring car #43 back on track to try finish the race, until a crash into the barrier after a night rain definitely forced them to retire.

Next appointment for the last championship round will be on the 30th of September for the 3-hours of Barcelona.
It did not go as planned unfortunately... It’s a pity because we were fully in the win’s fight. But that’s is a 24 hours race...you have to finish it first. However, I want to thank the team for the extraordinary job done, I'm sure that with a little more luck we will be able to take what we deserve."
